A Study on the Family Size and Attitude toward Family Planning of the Only Son

Abstract
|
|
|
The population problem is one of the most interesting matters in Korea. In order to inv~:stigate the family size and attitude toward fam.ilyplanning among 169 of the only son residing in Chinryang Myun, Kyungsan county, Kyungpook province, the authors studied during the period of August to October 1910.
The results obtained were summerized as follows:
The mean age at marriage of the only son `vas .21.5 years, while ordinary person as a control was 22.5 years of age. In ganenally, the tendency of early marriage was observed inthem compared with that of ordinary persons.
The ideal age of marriage in the only son was about one year earlier than ordinary person in both ses.
The ideal number of children was more 0.4 than that of ordinary person.
The approval, practice and acceptance rate toward family planning were 84.0, 23.5 and 24.3% but there were lower 3~, 10% and 11~ respectively compared with ordinary person.
